JCFD2 was evaluated by ISO personnel in June of 2014. This thorough evaluation included a review of all aspects of the Fire District operation. Including in this review was an evaluation of the water delivery systems, the dispatching center, fire equipment, training, maps, and record keeping.
*There are presently only 17 ISO Class 2 fire departments out of over 600 fire departments operating in the State of Kansas. There are only 917 ISO Class 2 fire departments out of over 40,000 fire departments operating in the United States.

ISO classifications help establish appropriate fire insurance premiums for residential and commercial properties. Insurance companies use reliable and up-to-date information about community’s fire protection services to determine insurance premiums. The Fire District encourages our patrons to contact their insurance agent or company to assure that they are receiving full benefit of our ISO Class 2/4 rating.

Public Protection Class 2/4
Effective April 1, 2015, Johnson County Fire District No. 2 (JCFD2) obtained an ISO Protection Class 2 rating. This rating applies to all properties served by JCFD2 that are located within 5 road miles of a JCFD2 fire station and that are within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant. Properties located within 5 road miles, but are further than 1000 feet from a fire hydrant receive an ISO Protection Class 4 rating.
The ISO PPC rating is essentially a report card for the overall performance of the Fire District.
